CLOAK/DAGGER - "Kamikazes b/w She Cracked"
Cloak/Dagger tear through the distinctive guitar fuzz driven track "Kamikazes" off of their 2007 "We Are" full length on the A-side, then a blistering rendition of the Modern Lovers' cut "She Cracked" on the flip. Still out of control, and you've still got a problem.

DEAN DIRG - "....Raus!"
Europe’s perhaps most energetic band is back with their third full length, a 14 song assault of '80s hardcore blended up with snotty rock‘n’roll and European madness! If you are into bands like Henry Fiat's Open Sore or the Blinds and you haven’t checked out Dean Dirg, you have missed out on something. Click to listen.

DEEP SLEEP - "Manic Euphoria"
Two years, line-up changes, drugs, jail and other assorted misfortunes can't keep a good band down. Baltimore's Deep Sleep are back with a vengeance, this time around firing out 6 more tracks of their brand of seething yet addictive punk rock. Expanding on the early Southern California punk influences of the first record, and adding an extra dosage of All-/Descendents-style weirdness and catchiness to the picture, "Manic Euphoria" shows a distinct evolution from their debut while maintaining all of the elements you grew to love in the first place.

DIRECT CONTROL - s/t
Originally released on Kangaroo Rec. in 2004 and now repressed by Grave Mistake, Direct Control's classic first vinyl release blazes through 6 tracks of killer early 80s influenced hardcore. Taking queues from the meaner side of that era (think The Fix, CIA, Poison Idea, etc.), this EP captures the attitude and essence of those classic bands almost perfectly with a combination of biting, sarcastic, and spiteful lyrics overtop a non-stop barrage of fast hardcore insanity.

GOVERNMENT WARNING - "No Way Out EP"
Except for a few local highlights this may well be this distro's all-time best selling release - and deservedly so, I dare to say. In my opinion, Government Warning's debut 7" is definitely among the best hardcore 7"es that came out in the last few years. 6 tracks of completely insane hc/punk, incredibly furious but still catchy... and I LOVE the surf edge of "Blank"! These are copies of the... uh, I'm not even sure... 7th or 8th (!) press with lightgreen cover and pink lyricsheet.

These four friends play heavy, fast hardcore that takes cues from bands like Comeback Kid, Trial and Blue Monday. Click to listen.

OUR TIMES - Demo 2007
Buffalo's Our Times carry on where they left with their first demo/7" - 6 songs of mainly fast and furious hardcore that has been described as mixing elements of Lights Out, Righteous Jams and Outbreak... whatever, just click here to listen. Like their previous demo, this is well done for a demo cd - no screenprinted digipak this time, but the printed booklet, inlay and cd (in a jewelcase) make this look really decent.

SEED OF PAIN - "Thunder and Consolation"
Half a year after the release of their 12" "Power, Corruption and Lies" (title cheekily borrowed from New Order), Seed Of Pain from Lucerne/Switzerland are back with a new EP called "Thunder and Consolation" (title generously donated by New Model Army). Their music is filled with groovy, heavy and progressive hardcore in the vein of Burn, 108, Outspoken and the likes... early 90s vibes and. Seriously, this is decent stuff though I wonder who they'll steal their next record's title from. This 7" comes on heavy black vinyl (70g) and in a handmade silkscreened cover, btw.

Repress of The Shining's debut 7", originally released in 2005. Their sound hasn't changed a lot in those 3 years - and in this case that's a good thing, I'd say - so what you'll get here are another 5 tracks of rabid crossover/thrash. Click here to listen.

If you liked "Static Eyes", you'll definitely love this one. This band can really do no wrong (plus, it's on Now Way Rec. who can't do wrong either, so what are you waiting for, punk?)

WAKING THE DEAD / The SHINING - "Thrash Attack"
If you want to sum up this record in 2 words - then, yes, "thrash attack" will do the trick. WTD rose from the ashes of Skulls And Flames and rip through 13 blasts of thrash reminiscent of "Dealing With It"-era D.R.I. and The Shining's 7 tracks of ultrafast 80s crossover/thrash (including a cover of The Accüsed's "Slow Death") are a perfect match. Click here for WTD or here for The Shining.
